Opening Titles & End-Credits

The opening titles for series 1 to 7 were filmed in Arthur's original car lot, featured on our Car Lots page. The opening titles used in series 8 to 10 in The Ray Daley Years can be seen at the bottom of this page. The original end credits appeared from series 1 through to 7. According to George Cole, the photographs seen were filmed approximately three weeks before the first episode of Minder was actually filmed. The original end credits feature a series of 16 shots all taken in black & white of Terry and Arthur in various parts of London.

Shots 1 and 2 of the original end credits were taken in Arthur's car lot and always contained the actors/actresses for that particular episode.

One of the stills shows Arthur and Terry walking past a leaning lamppost and then posing as if they were holding it up. The location of the lamppost is in a small alley-way (Newman Passage) off Rathbone Street London W1. The lamppost was a tourist attraction in the 70s and 80s when people posed as if they were trying to straighten it. The leaning lamppost has now been removed and a new one is in its place. This is just five minutes walk from Oxford Street.
