Terry & Arthur

Minder Facts

Minder was created by the writer Leon Griffiths. The series was first broadcast in October 1979 and spanned a very long and impressive 15 years, finally coming to an end in March 1994. A totally classic series. It featured three main stars in this time, Terry McCann played by Dennis Waterman, Ray Daley played by Gary Webster and the infamous Arthur Daley played by the legendary George Cole. This site divides the whole series up into how we feel it is best remembered.

During the 1970s and 1980s The Terry McCann Years is the original series that featured Dennis Waterman as Arthur's original hard man Minder Terry McCann. In 1991 this series was followed by The Ray Daley Years that featured Gary Webster as Arthur's nephew Ray Daley in the 1990s.

Many people were sorry to see the end of 'Minder' after having many years of enjoyable viewing and sharing in the adventures of Arthur Daley, Terry McCann and nephew Ray Daley. Much of Minder's appeal was no doubt due to its common theme and believability coupled with an excellent cast and crew.
Minder has been shown all over the world (popular in both Australia, Canada and even Germany). Episodes from both the Dennis Waterman series and Gary Webster series are shown occasionally on UK satellite television (in recent years on UK GOLD, MEN & MOTORS and ITV4).

Unfortunately, the series is not repeated as much as we would like it to be and certain episodes seem to be edited where objectionable material might be shown.

The series also featured many guest appearances from many popular actors and actresses of the time. These include Billy Connolly, Honor Blackman, Adam Faith, Alfie Bass, Kenneth Cope, Brian Glover, Lionel Jeffries, Mel Smith, Jimmy Nail, Brian Blessed, Ralph Bates, Roy Kinnear, Patrick Mower, Steve McFadden, June Brown, Michael Sheard, George Sewell and more! Sadly some of these great actors are no longer with us, but their memory in Minder lives on!
