After dropping his parents Bert and Doreen off at the airport in his dad's black cab, Ray accidentally picks up a Susan 'Susie' Groves who appeals for Ray's help as she is on the run from who she tells Ray, is her crazy husband. Desperate with nowhere to stay, Ray introduces her to Arthur whose solution to her dilemma is to put her up at Bert and Doreen's house while they are away in Majorca. Although Ray is against the idea he does finally concede that this is a possible solution, especially when Arthur tells him that any rent he gets from her will be divided up between himself, Bert and Doreen when they arrive back. Meanwhile, Arthur has set up a scam mail order business known as 'Tall Orders' claiming to provide solutions to everyday problems for everyday people, which Ray completely disapproves of. In order to help it get off the ground, he enlists the help of Willie (played by Tony Robinson).

Before long, Arthur and Ray discover it is not her husband that Susie is on the run from, but instead she is running from high class celebrities and police officers intent on killing her to keep quiet. Susie has been working as a high class prostitute and is in the middle of a blackmail and corruption scheme of her own. When those chasing Susie finally catch up with her at Ray's parents' house, Ray is forced to defend Susie and tells her the only way out is to confess to the law. Meanwhile, Arthur has been arrested by local officers who believe he is running a brothel out of Bert & Doreen's house.
